Car rental at the Dublin International Airport

As the landscape in Ireland invites you to drive in the nature and off-road, we also recommend a glass and tire insurance as well as an underbody insurance, so that you are appropriately insured for every case. In any case, read in advance in the rental conditions whether driving on off-road roads is allowed with the hired car.

• Always drive carefully and with foresight with the hired car. It is not uncommon for sheep to suddenly appear on the road.
• Also be aware that on some sections of the highways in Ireland tolls are charged. These are usually not included in the rental price of the hired car but must be paid locally. Find out in advance if your desired route includes toll roads.
• If you want to take turns driving the hired car on a longer trip, you can also specify an additional driver on site when picking up the hired car. In some offers, an additional driver is already included in the rental price.

Remember to refuel the hired car before returning it, depending on the fuel arrangements. The drive from the center of Dublin to the airport takes about 25 minutes by hired car. The nearest gas station is right outside the airport. Follow the signs for the return of the hired car and plan enough time on site so that you do not get into stress before your departure. Have the condition of the hired car documented and take the record with you.

You can return the car at any time, even outside opening hours. Simply leave the key for this in the key box provided.

Car hire trips across country borders are generally possible but depend on the vehicle type and rental company. If you want to drive from Dublin Airport to the North Island of Ireland by hired car, please read the rental conditions under the keyword "cross-border trips" or "border trips". If a cross-border trip is possible, please report it either directly at the time of booking via the field "Message to our service team" or to the rental company on site when you pick up the hired car. Also note that, as already mentioned, tolls are payable on some sections of the freeways in Ireland.
