Car Class Recommendations

If you fancy the city rides and short trips, compact cars will do the trick. For a family trip or group travel, an SUV or minivan should serve you well because of the added luggage space and comfort. Fancy a superior driving experience? An executive class or luxury car will surely impress.

Speed Limits and Traffic Rules

Like the UK, Lithuanians drive on the right-hand side of the road, which can take some getting used to if you’re from the UK. Also, keep in mind that the pretty much rest of Europe, Lithuania uses the metric system. Speed limits are generally 50km/hr in towns, 90km/hr outside towns, and 130km/hr on motorways during summer months or 110km/hr during winter. Alcohol limit is 0.4‰ and the use of seat belts is mandatory for all passengers.

Attractions and Routes

Cruise along the Baltic coast and discover the Palanga Pier with breath-taking views, especially during sunset. Drive to the Palanga Botanical Park, a tranquil sanctuary spanning 100+ hectares, housing the impressive Amber Museum. Don't miss out on the Hill of Witches in Juodkrante, which is just a short drive away; it's an outdoor sculpture gallery filled with wood carvings based on Lithuanian folklore.
