As the second-largest airport in Serbia, Niš Constantine the Great Airport sees a fair amount of traffic, but it's seldom crowded, making your journey smooth and relaxed.

Car Rental

There are several car rental stations providing a range of vehicle categories near the exit of the terminal. We recommend mid-sized sedans due to their comfort and fuel efficiency. Keep a close eye on rental policies as they can vary between providers. Carefully consider if you need additional items like booster seats or GPS systems in advance.

Fuel Stations

Fuel stations are conveniently located only a few metres away from the airport. Be aware that in Serbia, fuel is sold in litres and prices are shown per litre, so ignore the instinct from home to look for the price per gallon.

On the Road: Important Tips

Serbians drive on the right-hand side of the road, unlike in the UK. Seatbelt wearing is mandatory for all vehicle passengers and it's illegal to use a mobile phone while driving unless you have a hands-free system.

Routes and Accessibility

The airport is well connected by major roads, making your onward journey straightforward. The main motorway, E75, is less than 25 kilometres away, taking you straight to Serbia's largest city, Belgrade, in the north, or connecting south to Skopje in Macedonia. Niš city centre is merely 4 kilometres away – a perfect starting point to explore its historical richness.

Local Climate, Currency and Surrounding Cities

Niš enjoys a temperate climate with cold winters and hot summers – quite a departure from Britain's cool and cloudy weather. The official currency is the Serbian Dinar (RSD), but Euros are sometimes accepted. Note that a large banknote can prove hard to change in small shops or bistros, even in the city.

Exploring Nearby

Beyond Niš, there are several fascinating cities for you to explore. Belgrade, Serbia's capital and largest city, is just 200 km away, while Sofia, the capital of neighbouring Bulgaria, is only a two-hour drive away. Novi Sad, another must-visit Serbian city, is a three-hour drive north via the E75.

Ready to make the most of your journey? Enjoy your trip and the charm of Niš. Safe travels!
