Driving on the Left
Similar to the UK, traffic in Indonesia moves on the left-side of the road. However, traffic can be quite chaotic at times, and rules aren't always adhered to strictly. Just keep your eyes open and your wits about you!
International Driving Permit
While you're allowed to drive with a UK driver's license, it's highly recommended to also bring an International Driving Permit.
Speed Limit
Speed limits vary depending on the type of road: 50 to 60km/h on city roads; 60 to 80km/h on intercity roads, and up to 100km/h on toll roads.

Parking in Makassar can sometimes prove challenging. Hotels often provide parking for guests, and paid parking spaces are typically available in shopping malls.

Given the diverse geographical features of Makassar and its surrounding areas, an SUV is the best car class for maximum comfort and flexibility, especially if you're planning to hit the beach or mountains.

The currency in Makassar is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Credit cards are accepted in most places, but cash is king, especially in local markets.

Makassar enjoys a tropical rainforest climate. The temperature remains virtually constant throughout the year, with an average high of 32°C and low of 22 to 24°C. So pack your clothes accordingly!
