Driving in Japan might be different experience for Brits, but it's definitely worth giving it a go. The main road signs are in both English and Japanese, and the motorways, expressways, and other roads are in good condition, though they can get crowded during rush hour.
Many of Japan's expressways are toll roads. Keep cash handy as some toll booth does not accept credit cards. Fuel stations are easily accessible in the city and along the main roads. Please note that most fuel stations in Japan are not self-service, so let the station staff fill up your tank for you. Also, it's customary to tip them.
